A conference of young scientists “Genomics, Metagenomics and Molecular Biology of Microorganisms”, organized by our laboratory, was held at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology on November 19-20, 2022.
This was the first conference held as part of the Atlas of Microbial Communities of Russia project, and we are very pleased that our event featured so many strong speakers who came to us from all over the country.
The conference lasted two days, the program was rich. At the beginning of each day there were plenary lectures from invited scientists.
Konstantin Viktorovich Severinov gave a lecture on recently discovered CRISPR-Cas systems of type VI;
Alexander Yurievich Merkel gave a lecture on metagenomic approaches to analyzing environmental microbial communities;
Anna Alexandrovna Shiryaeva told about the method she developed to decipher the intermediate stages of adaptation in CRISPR-Cas systems;
Daria Mikhailovna Yesiunina gave a lecture on prokaryotic argonauts proteins - mysterious proteins homologous to components of the RNA interference system of eukaryotes.
Lectures from visiting scientists were followed by oral presentations from conference participants.
And then - a poster session.
We had a great pleasure to communicate with specialists who are engaged in research of environmental microbial communities, we made a lot of new interesting acquaintances and hope that the conference participants will be able to say the same about themselves.
The sponsors of our conference were PCR.news portal and GenTerra company, which provided three gift certificates, which can be used to purchase reagents and equipment and which we presented to three speakers selected by us.
We would like to thank all participants, lecturers and sponsors, as well as all those who helped us with the organization of the conference!
